Nervous System Reset for Empaths | Gentle Space Clearing for Home & Energy
By Lais Stephan – Space Clearing Expert & Author of Space Clearing for Empaths
If you’re an empath, a sensitive soul, or someone who feels easily overwhelmed by the world right now, especially during the holiday season with its celebrations, gatherings, crowds, and expectations, this gentle space clearing practice is for you.
This article is a follow-up to my previous reflection on Solstice energies, where I spoke about the darkness we are being invited to face, understand, and integrate, and the light we are asked to embody as we move toward the new year.
If you haven’t read or watched that one yet, I highly recommend starting there: it will help you feel into this practice on a deeper level.
What follows is not about “doing more” or fixing yourself. It’s about slowing down, recalibrating, and restoring a sense of safety — both in your body and in your home.
Hi, I am Lais, an intuitive healer and space clearing expert with over 15 years of experience. Being an empath myself, I help fellow sensitive souls feel safe within themselves and their home environments.

Why Empaths Need Nervous System–Centred Space Clearing
Many empaths aren’t anxious because something is “wrong” with them.
They are overwhelmed because they are open systems living in overstimulating environments.
Sensitive nervous systems absorb:
emotional residue from other people
collective stress and grief
energetic imprints left in spaces after gatherings
noise, movement, and constant input
Over time, this can leave you feeling:
scattered or porous
exhausted without knowing why
disconnected from your home
unable to fully rest, even when alone
This is where space clearing for empaths needs to be different. It must support the nervous system and not overwhelm it further.
A Gentle Energetic Reset for You and Your Home
In this practice, I guide you through a soft energetic recalibration that works on two levels at once:
your nervous system
the energetic field of your home
Rather than “clearing harder”, this approach focuses on:
containment
protection without aggression
quiet regeneration
The goal is to help your system settle so healing can happen naturally.
Think of it as coming back into yourself, rather than pushing anything away.
Ancient Symbol Work as Nervous System Medicine
I work with ancient symbol systems like the Runes because they speak directly to the subconscious and energetic body, bypassing the analytical mind.
For this reset, I chose three ancient symbols that are especially supportive for empaths during winter, exhaustion, emotional overload, and transition phases. I then bound them together into one protective and restorative binding symbol.
If you’re watching the video, you’ll see the symbols clearly.
If you’re listening to the podcast, you can find the visual version on this blog.
These symbols work beautifully as:
a nervous system reset
a home recalibration tool
a daily energetic anchor
Ancient Symbol Work as Nervous System Medicine
The Symbols and The Binding Rune I mention in my video:
This particular combination helps with:
slowing down overstimulated nervous systems
preventing energetic leakage
creating boundaries without shutting down emotionally
restoring a sense of safety in your home
supporting quiet, unseen healing processes
The mantra that holds this binding together is:
Nothing harmful enters.
Nothing essential leaks out.
What is healing is allowed to grow quietly.
You don’t need to “activate” this intellectually.
Simply working with it consistently allows your system to recalibrate over time.
How to Use This Space Clearing Practice in Your Home
You can work with this binding symbol in a very intuitive, low-effort way.
For your home:
Place it near your front door or corridor
Put it at a threshold where energy enters
Slip it under a doormat
Place it in a room that feels heavy or overstimulating
If your home feels overloaded after guests, you may place one in each room
Trust the first intuitive impulse you get about where it belongs — that’s usually the right place.
For your nervous system:
Carry it in a pocket or bag
Place it near your bed
Keep it somewhere you’ll see it regularly
If you wish, place it close to your heart
The more often your system is exposed to it over days or weeks, the more settled and grounded you may begin to feel.
Many people describe a subtle sense of:
“coming home”
feeling held
breathing more deeply
softening internally
Honouring Your Own Cultural or Spiritual Language when working with Runes or Space Clearing
While this symbol work is ancient and not tied to any religion, I always encourage you to honour your own heritage and belief systems.
If you already work with:
religious symbols
ancestral protection signs
cultural talismans
spiritual imagery that feels safe to you
You are very welcome to combine them intuitively with this practice. Your nervous system responds best to what feels familiar, respectful, and embodied.
